Sir Jim Ratcliffe would give Tottenham Hotspur free run at Manchester United target Jean-Clair Todibo
Sir Jim Ratcliffe will not stand in Tottenham Hotspur’s way, should the North London club look to sign French centre-back Jean Clair-Todibo from Ligue 1 side OGC Nice in January. This is according to the Evening Standard.
Where do we even start with you, Manchester United? What’s the point of having transfer targets if other clubs are going to have an easy run at them while all you do is sit around, watch, and then eventually sign Jonny Evans on deadline day?
If anyone reading this article thinks their life is a mess, just imagine being a Manchester United fan. Season upon season, we think it’s finally time for us to get back to where we belong, only to be handed with even more disappointment.
Gone are those Sir Alex Ferguson days of unparalleled dominance. Gone are those days when the Red Devils were considered the best club in England, and at some point, even the world. At this point, we are not even the best club in Manchester!
Let’s not mince words here, we are in defensive shambles. Yes, we could go back to the game against Liverpool to say we defended very well but as the old age saying goes, ‘one swallow does not make a summer’. In data analytics terms, that performance was just an ‘outlier’.
What are you doing, Mr. Erik ten Hag?
Coming to the Liverpool game, the hero for United that day was undoubtedly Raphael Varane. This begs us to ask the question – “Just what were you thinking, Mr. Erik ten Hag?”. It was only after he had no choice did he decide to play the Frenchman.
Make no mistake here, Harry Maguire might be enjoying a renaissance in a United shirt but Raphael Varane still remains the best centre-back at the club. His injury history means we really can’t depend on him though.
Lisandro Martinez is out. So is Maguire. Raphael Varane is always a candidate to add to that list. Nothing can be more important for the Red Devils in January than signing a centre-back and who better than Jean Clair-Todibo?

Sir Jim Ratcliffe should ideally be looking to use his power at Nice to ensure that United have a free run at Todibo. Instead, he seems to be letting Spurs take a bite at the cherry. At this point, we just don’t understand what the club is up to. Unless something drastically changes, we are set up for yet another season of disappointment which at this point does not even hurt us.
