Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof opens up about the uncertainty surrounding his future at the club. The Sweden captain is currently fulfilling his duty with the national side during the October international break.
Sweden currently holds the third-place position with six points, trailing behind Austria and Belgium, both of which have accumulated 16 points each.
United signed Lindelof from Benfica in the summer of 2017 and the Swede is currently in his seventh season. The 29-year-old employs his speed and positional sense effectively, actively shutting down attacking threats for his team. The Swede is very handy due to his versatility, capable of playing in full-back and defensive midfield roles if required.
Lindelof addressed his contractual situation before the game while speaking at the Sweden press conference (h/t Manchester Evening News). He said:
“I have an option year and there is a deadline for it. When exactly I don’t know. But it feels quite likely that it will be activated. Absolutely [I want to continue at United]. I enjoy myself very much. I am entering my seventh year at the club. I feel good and the family feels good. It’s a club that I really like, and that I love to represent.”
Lindelof is currently behind Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez in the pecking order. However, he has featured in 10 out of 11 games the Red Devils have played in all competitions this season.
