Omari Forson expected to be handed a new contract to extend his stay at Manchester United
According to The Sun, Manchester United are looking forward to extending Omari Forson‘s contract, allowing him to stay longer at the club.
The attacker played a total of 271 minutes while on United’s preseason tour roster and started three different games. The 19-year-old did not make his senior debut against Bayern Munich last month, although he did start on the bench.
The U-20 England side have summoned Forson to take part in international matches against Portugal and Romania with him having done pretty well in different United’s youth sides. This season he has six goals and two assists.
He was substituted in the first half of a pre-season game against Borussia Dortmund after an incident which attracted a yellow card from Karim Adeyemi.
Ten Hag needed to comfort Forson, who was clearly angry that the Dutchman had decided to take him off the field. The manager explained the reason why he decided to replace him.
The winger’s contract expires in a year, therefore the club wants to lock him down to a new deal now before any other bidders show interest.
The attacker is yet to play in a senior, competitive game for United, and he will have competition for spots in the starting lineup from players like Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Facundo Pellistri, Amad, and possibly Jadon Sancho if he the latter gets back into Erik ten Hag’s plans.
The England Under-19s international also contributed one assist and two goals to a 3-0 UEFA Youth League triumph over Galatasaray earlier this month.
