Arsenal star William Saliba showers praise on Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford, calling him a ‘tough player’
Arsenal centre-back William Saliba has raved about Manchester United star Marcus Rashford’s qualities ahead of the Premier League showdown between the two teams at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The United Academy graduate had a remarkable season for the Red Devils in the previous campaign, recording 30 goals and 11 assists.
Although he hasn’t scored yet in the current season, he contributed an assist and earned a penalty in the last match against Nottingham Forest.
The English international will be aiming to find the back of the net in the upcoming game against the Gunners. In preparation for the match, Saliba has praised Rashford’s exceptional technical skills and speed.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ YouTube channel, the French star described the 25-year-old as a good player who is tough to play against. The defender also mentioned that the United attacker excels on the left wing but is equally effective as a striker.
He said:
“He [Marcus Rashford] is so, so good. He’s a tough player to play against. For me he’s better when he’s on the left. As a striker as well he’s good as he’s so fast and makes good runs.”
In their previous match, United pulled off an impressive 3-2 comeback victory against Forest, overcoming a two-goal deficit. Rashford played a significant role in this victory with important contributions.
As they prepare to take on Arsenal away, the Red Devils will aim to maintain the positive momentum. It’s worth noting that United have faced challenges in this fixture, having not secured a league victory at the Emirates Stadium since 2017.
In fact, the club’s last league victory at the Gunner’s stadium was a memorable match where David de Gea made an astonishing 14 saves. Erik ten Hag’s side would need to finally put an end to this disappointing streak in tomorrow’s game.
Rashford was instrumental in creating goals against Arsenal last season, contributing to four of them, including the opening goal at the Emirates.
With both Rasmus Hojlund and Anthony Martial available for selection, the English ace might have the opportunity to play in his preferred position on the left wing.
This is a position where he feels comfortable and can provide a more significant goal-scoring threat.
