Mason Mount injury sidelines him from next Manchester United fixtures

Manchester United star Mason Mount has picked up an injury and will miss the next few fixtures for the Old Trafford side, according to the Manchester Evening News.

On 26 August, the Red Devils will welcome Nottingham Forest home. Subsequently, we are set to travel to the Emirates Stadium on 3 September to take on last season’s Premier League runners-up, Arsenal.

Unfortunately, the former Chelsea midfielder is expected to be out of action for those matches. However, the 24-year-old’s fitness issue is a minor one and nothing to worry about.

Therefore, we will seemingly likely be able to see the English national get on the pitch once again after the international break. High-flying Brighton & Hove Albion will be our opponents at Old Trafford on 16 September.

Mount signed for the Red Devils in the ongoing transfer window from English top-flight rivals Chelsea. At the Blues, the midfielder made his way through the youth ranks and developed into one of their best players.

However, the England international has not been in the best of forms over the last few months. Unfortunately, he has carried that into the initial stages at United.

Erik ten Hag can call upon Christian Eriksen as a replacement in the middle of the park. The Danish national has come off the bench in the first two games of the 2023/24 term.

Casemiro and the former Brentford star formed an impressive pairing in the engine room in the previous campaign. Therefore, it would not be surprising to see the gaffer count on those two in the next couple of weeks.

Mount has been underwhelming so far at United. However, he will evidently need time to settle into a new environment. Hopefully, the English national will come back stronger after his brief spell on the sidelines.
