Eric Bailly is out of the Manchester United project and is expected to leave this summer
Manchester United defender Eric Bailly is expected to leave the Old Trafford side in the ongoing transfer window, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
The Ivory Coast international finds himself out of the project at the Red Devils. Therefore, it is likely that the defender will part ways with the club this summer.
Man United will travel to the United States for their pre-season tour. However, the 29-year-old has not been included in the squad. We will take on the likes of Arsenal, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in America.
United signed Bailly in the summer of 2015 from Villarreal for £30 million in the summer of 2016. The 29-year-old had a decent debut season. Unfortunately, since then, he has been unable to live up to the price tag.
Injuries have not helped the defender’s cause over the years. The Ivorian has consistently found himself on the sidelines season after season, making just seven appearances in the 2021/22 term.
Subsequently, in the previous campaign, Bailly was on loan at Olympique Marseille. However, the centre-back was unable to find regular game time there either, starting in just five Ligue 1 matches.
At United, we have enough quality in our backline. Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez have formed a solid partnership at the Old Trafford side. We also have Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof at our disposal for now.
Luke Shaw was also deployed in the central defensive position to good effect by Erik ten Hag in his first year in charge. Jonny Evans has also signed a short-term deal to play a few matches for us and featured in our 1-0 win over Olympique Lyon in Scotland.
