Bayern Munich star Leon Goretzka has no intention of leaving this summer amidst interest from Manchester United, according to 90min (h/t Manchester Evening News).

The midfielder has ‘informed’ the Bavarians that he plans to stay in the ongoing transfer window. As things stand, the Germany international is determined to fight for his place in Thomas Tuchel’s team.

In recent weeks, the 28-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Allianz Arena side. To that end, the Red Devils have been one of the teams who have been associated with acquiring his services.

Premier League rivals Liverpool are also interested in getting a hold of Goretzka’s signature. However, it looks like the midfielder will not be parting ways with Bayern anytime soon.

In the summer of 2018, the Bundesliga giants signed the German national from Schalke 04. Over the years, the 28-year-old has formed a brilliant partnership with Joshua Kimmich in the Bavarians’ engine room.

However, Goretzka was not at his best last season and now has to compete with the likes of Konrad Laimer and Ryan Gravenberch for a place in the team. It remains to be seen how the situation around the German national will unfold.

At United, Casemiro and Christian Eriksen were the go-to players for Erik ten Hag in the 2022/23 term in the double pivot position. Now, we have also added Mason Mount to our ranks, who joined from Chelsea.

It will be interesting to see how the gaffer will use the three players in the upcoming campaign. As the pre-season progresses, we will arguably get a better picture of what the Dutch manager has up his sleeves.

While we could do with more quality in depth in the engine room, we already have enough box-to-box players in our ranks. Also, with Goretzka expressing his desire to be at Bayern, it does not make sense to pursue him for now.
