Manchester United manager Erik ten hag was delighted with the performance of Mason Mount in the pre-season friendly against Leeds United in Norway.

The Red Devils took on the Peacocks at the Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo on Wednesday (12 July). At the full-time whistle, it was the Old Trafford side who came out on top, beating the Yorkshire-based club 2-0.

Erik ten Hag was happy with Mason Mount in the game against Leeds United.

“Ah, great. First time but we could expect this [level of performance]. I think for him it’s just his first because he has so much skills and I’m sure we will take so much joy from him and he will contribute to our performance, absolutely.”

United signed the 24-year-old from Chelsea this summer. The midfielder had established himself as a hard-working player at the Stamford Bridge side with immense quality on the ball,

Mount showcased glimpses of his talent against Leeds. The English national started the match and played the first 45 minutes of the game. Subsequently, he was substituted at half-time.

After the break, it was Noam Emeran who broke the deadlock and gave the Old Trafford side the lead in the 67th minute. Then, the French national set up Joe Hugill for the second goal of the fixture.

Mount played in a more advanced role against the Elland Road side. The first half was rather quiet, but the midfielder had his moments in the game, attempting an audacious chip in the opening minutes of the match.

Apart from playing as a number 10, the 24-year-old can also be deployed as a box-to-box midfielder. As a result, Ten Hag could pair him up with Casemiro in the double pivot position.
