Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag elucidates the invaluable qualities that Mason Mount brings to the team.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag talked about the immense qualities that Mason Mount brings to the table. The Red Devils will play Brentford at Old Trafford in the Premier League showdown on Saturday.

The 24-year-old faced a turbulent start to his United career as he suffered an injury setback earlier in the season. Mount returned to action during the 3-0 Carabao Cup win against Crystal Palace in late September.

United signed Mount from Chelsea during the summer transfer window as Ten Hag craved for fresh legs in midfield. The English international joined the Red Devils for an initial £55m deal that could rise depending on add-ons.

Ten Hag showed his satisfaction with Mount during the interview (h/t Manchester United official site) as he highlighted his qualities. The United boss said:

“He can play in that game by supplying, making the connections, making the link-ups for those in the front line. He has abilities to give that [energy] and to supply our front players by combinations. Also, in his moments of defense transition, in defending and pressing he can be and he is already a great player for us because he puts a lot of effort in.”

The Red Devils have suffered an appalling start to their season, losing six out of 10 games in all competitions. The inconsistency in form has attracted criticism towards players, managers, staff, and the club’s hierarchy.

Ten Hag’s team has faced a severe injury crisis which is definitely one of the biggest factors for their current predicament. The Dutchman has been unable to put out his best starting eleven against any opposition so far.

Mount is incredibly important in both the long-term and the short-term strategy for the United manager. The Englishman possesses an incredible engine to cover the distance with or without the ball. The 25-year-old has the intelligence and technique to link up and create chances for his teammates.

More Manchester United News-

Chelsea used Mount in a more attacking position where he contributed 33 goals and 37 assists in 195 appearances. Ten Hag wants to use the midfielder in a deeper role to fully utilize his offensive and defensive prowess. We believe Mount has the capacity to fulfil the role of the Dutchman with his unselfish style of play. Mount took the legendary No. 7 jersey and the Old Trafford fans are looking forward to seeing him add prestige to the legacy of that number.
