Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana is close to sealing a move to Manchester United as the club’s new no.1
According to Gazella Dello Sport (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United and Inter Milan are close to agreeing a deal for goalkeeper Andre Onana, with the keeper expected to join United in the next 72 hours.
Onana seems to be heading to Old Trafford, especially after David De Gea officially announced that he is leaving the club after 12 years which means a new no.1 is a priority for the club.
Erik Ten Hag is keen on the player who he has managed before at Ajax and believes that the addition of Onana will allow him to finally play a level of football previously associated with him.
Onana has had a great season with Inter Milan and if Inter did not have the financial burden of raising money through player sales due to Financial Fair Play regulations, acquiring Onana would have been a really tough task.
Instead, both United and Inter are keen to conclude a deal before 20th July which is when Inter go on their pre-season break while Ten Hag is keen to have the 27-year-old at United before the club goes on the pre-season itself.
While two bids for Onana have been rejected by Inter, there is growing optimism that a third official bid would be enough to seal the deal with all parties willing to do a compromise.
De Gea was a brilliant player for the club and deserves the sendoff of a legend and would be regarded as one of the top keepers to ever grace the Premier League.
But it was the right time for the Spaniard to go and someone else to take over the reins. Onana coming to United would bring a new revolution and completely change the way we have been playing over the past few years.
