Manchester United could have two new goalkeepers in their ranks in the ongoing transfer window, with the club willing to sign multiple shot-stoppers, according to the Manchester Evening News.

As things stand, the Red Devils are pursuing the signature of Inter Milan’s Andre Onana. However, a backup is also on the agenda if David de Gea does not re-sign with the Old Trafford side.

At the end of last month, the Spaniard’s current contract with Man United expired. However, the Red Devils have left the door open regarding the 32-year-old being part of the squad for the upcoming campaign.

De Gea was the first choice under Erik ten Hag last season. However, the errors the Spaniard made towards the end of the 2022/23 term changed the Old Trafford side’s position on him.

To that end, there are those in the Manchester-based club’s hierarchy who want to move on from the 32-year-old. As a result, we are left with Dean Henderson and Tom Heaton as the only senior goalkeeping options in the ranks for now.

However, Nottingham Forest are interested in getting the 26-year-old on a permanent transfer this summer after having him on loan in the previous campaign.

Unfortunately, at the moment, Henderson is out injured. Therefore, Heaton is the only fit senior shot-stopper in our ranks ahead of the first friendly against Leeds United next week.

It is understandable that Man United are eyeing more than one addition in between the sticks. Injuries are part of the game and anything is possible. Thus, it is wise to be prepared.

However, it remains to be seen who our two new goalkeepers will be. Hopefully, we will be able to get a deal for Onana over the line soon. Then, getting a promising prospect to fill the backup role would evidently be the go-to move.
