Manchester United are interested in acquiring the services of Inter Milan shot-stopper Andre Onana, with a deal ‘absolutely on’, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on CaughtOffside (h/t Manchester Evening News).

Erik ten Hag wants to bring in a new goalkeeper cable of playing out from the back. To that end, the Cameroonian seems to tick all the boxes, having played under the Dutch manager at Ajax Amsterdam.

However, the Nerazzurri want around €60 million for their shot-stopper. That will effectively wipe out the Red Devils’ remaining budget for the ongoing transfer window.

Thankfully, the two sides are still negotiating a potential move for the 27-year-old. As things stand, there is still hope of a consensus being reached between the two clubs.

Inter signed Onana as a free agent in the summer of 2022. The Cameroonian caught a lot of people’s attention with his performances in the previous campaign, especially in the Nerazzurri’s run to the Champions League final.

Now, the Serie A giants look on course to make a hefty profit on the goalkeeper. However, it remains to be seen whether the Old Trafford side will stump up the cash being demanded.

At United, David de Gea is not on our books anymore after his contract expired recently. Last season, Ten Hag heavily relied on the Spaniard. While the veteran goalkeeper put in some decent displays, he left a lot to be desired with his distribution.

The 32-year-old did not look comfortable playing under the Dutch manager. Therefore, it seems like the right time to move on from him.

However, we will evidently need a quality player to replace the former Atletico Madrid star. Hopefully, the Old Trafford side will be able to get a deal over the line for Onana soon.
