According to French outlet Le Parisien, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have shown interest in signing key Manchester United target Randal Kolo Muani this summer.

PSG, the reigning champions of Ligue 1, are actively searching for a versatile striker who can excel both as a traditional forward and on the right wing.

Their previous attempts to acquire Marcus Thuram, who has since joined Inter, were unsuccessful. As a result, the French side have now shifted their focus to prioritising the signing of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Kolo Muani as their primary target.

The French club have been keeping tabs on Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen as potential striker targets. However, Kane is likely to either remain at Tottenham or move to Bayern Munich. On the other hand, acquiring Osimhen from Napoli would require a hefty fee of €180 million.

According to Le Parisien, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, Sporting advisor Luis Campos, and the management all express their enthusiasm and support for the potential signing of Kolo Muani.

The former Nantes forward perfectly embodies the qualities PSG are seeking in the transfer market: a young French player with immense potential, who also happens to have grown up in the Greater Paris area.

Kolo Muani is currently under contract with Eintracht Frankfurt, with the deal set to expire in 2027. The Bundesliga club are said to have the intention of making Kolo Muani their highest-selling player, surpassing the €63 million fee received from Real Madrid for Luka Jovic in 2019.

The 24-year-old is willing to consider PSG’s sporting project proposal. The situation has gained more clarity recently, especially with the imminent arrival of Spanish manager Luis Enrique at PSG. The only thing remaining is the player’s astronomical price tag.

The talented striker had a remarkable debut last season after joining Frankfurt on a free transfer from Nantes last summer. He recorded impressive statistics, scoring 23 goals and delivering 17 assists in 46 matches across various competitions.

Although Kolo Muani is currently under contract with Frankfurt until June 2027, there is widespread speculation regarding his future with the Bundesliga club due to interest from several top European teams.

The 24-year-old has indicated that he may leave Frankfurt during the summer transfer window, expressing his desire to play for “big clubs.” The Parisian forward has also revealed his dream of playing in the Premier League, which boosts Man United’s pursuit of signing him.

United manager Erik ten Hag has made acquiring a new centre-forward a priority for the upcoming 2023-24 season, and Kolo Muani is among the top targets on the club’s list.

The player’s high asking price has put United off, as Frankfurt are demanding £86 million for their star striker.

The current ownership situation at United and the need to adhere to Financial Fair Play regulations are preventing the club from splurging on several of their primary transfer targets this summer. Hence, the Red Devils are already looking for cheaper alternatives like Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund.

Nonetheless, United views Kolo Muani as a valuable investment to enhance their attacking prowess alongside Marcus Rashford and compete for trophies in various competitions in the upcoming season.
