Manchester United keeping tabs on 16-year-old Birmingham City starlet Trevan Sanusi

Manchester United enter the race to sign highly-rated English talent Trevan Sanusi

According to the Daily Mail, Premier League giants Manchester United have entered the hot race to sign Birmingham City wonderkid Trevan Sanusi as the 16-year-old continues to attract elite clubs.

The young attacker has been closely watched by English clubs like Man United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United.

United scouts have closely monitored the young player’s performance during Birmingham City’s Under-21 game in April, providing highly positive feedback to their recruitment department.

The Championship side have continued to build top young talents, but their financial position have caused them to be vulnerable at times. They sold Jude Bellingham to Borussia Dortmund in a record deal in 2020 before losing his brother Jobe Bellingham to Sunderland this summer in a £1.5 million deal.

There are further chances that they will need to sell Sanusi if top teams continue to surround him. Despite being eligible to sign a scholarship contract with his current club, the 16-year-old has reportedly turned down the offer, indicating his desire for a new challenge.

Sanusi is a versatile forward who possesses the ability to excel in a central attacking role or on the wings.

Known for his impressive goal-scoring and playmaking skills at his age level, he has garnered a reputation as a prolific scorer and creator for Birmingham’s Under-21 side. He has also been capped by England at U16 level.

Sanusi came remarkably close to making his senior team debut last season, which would have made him an even younger player to feature in a match than Jude Bellingham.

Man United could gain an advantage in the pursuit of the young player, as the ongoing summer transfer window is expected to spark a competitive battle among clubs for his signature.

It is unlikely that Sanusi will remain with Birmingham City if a good offer approaches, as he will be looking for a fresh challenge to support his development. Regardless of his next destination, it seems that there is a possibility for him to part ways with his parent club.

The Championship side are also looking to bolster their squad for the upcoming 2023-24 season and have brought in Man United starlet Ethan Laird. However, they are in a position to lose Tahith Chong since the former United attacker could join newly promoted Luton Town this summer.

We believe that Sanusi could be worth millions after a few years if his development continues to follow an upward curve. The Red Devils could learn something from Chelsea’s bag of tricks by signing young starlets for a minimal fee and turning them into future stars.

The Blues are going down the same progressive path and it seems correct, as building for the future is an important part of a club’s growth.

Hence, the fans would be more than happy if United pursued this opportunity to sign Sanusi before other teams became serious in this race.
