Fabrizio Romano dismisses claims that Manchester United have made a bid for Atalanta star Rasmus Hojlund

Manchester United have not made a €35 million offer to Atalanta to acquire the services of Rasmus Hojlund this summer, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.

The Bergamo-based club’s position on the Denmark international is clear—they want €60–70m for him. Therefore, it would make no sense for the Red Devils to put in a significantly low bid.

As things stand, the Old Trafford side held talks regarding the 20-year-old. He is high on the club’s shortlist to bolster the front line in the ongoing transfer window.

To that end, Hojlund is also keen to make the switch to United from the Serie A outfit. However, it remains to be seen whether Red Devils will start negotiations with La Dea for the youngster.

The Danish national has burst onto the scene in the last year. Having made his way to Atalanta in the summer of 2022 from Sturm Graz, the striker became a key player for Gian Piero Gasperini’s team in the previous campaign.

For the national side, the 20-year-old has put in some exceptional displays as well. He has found the back of the net six times in six caps for Kasper Hjulmand’s team.

At the moment, United lack options in the number nine position. Anthony Martial is the only natural striker at Erik ten hag’s disposal for now. Unfortunately, the French national was unreliable last season due to his injury problems.

As a result, the Red Devils had to sign Wout Weghorst as cover in January. Unfortunately, the Burnley loanee was not up to scratch either at the Old Trafford side, with some underwhelming displays.

Therefore, we could evidently do with more quality up front. However, whether Hojlund is the player the Manchester-based club will count on to fix their issues in the attack remains to be seen.
