Andre Onana deal to Manchester United from Inter Milan set to be ‘closed’ next week

Manchester United are expected to close a deal to acquire the services of Andre Onana from Inter Milan by next week, according to Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews.

The Cameroonian is on the brink of parting ways with the Nerazzurri in the ongoing transfer window. To that end, the Red Devils have intensified their operation to get a hold of the shot-stopper’s services.

As things stand, the Old Trafford side have already held a meeting with the 27-year-old’s agent regarding a switch. The Serie A outfit are expected to ask for €50 million plus add-ons for their goalkeeper.

United are willing to meet Inter’s demands, which the Italian giants have been informed of. Onana looks ‘destined’ to leave the Nerazzurri after just one season in Milan.

The Serie A giants acquired the services of the shot-stopper in the summer of 2022 as a free agent. In the previous campaign, the Cameroonian was pivotal to Simone Inzghi’s team as they made it to the Champions League final.

Before his stint at Inter, the 27-year-old developed and thrived under Erik ten Hag at Ajax Amsterdam. The Dutch manager got the best out of the goalkeeper in the Eredivisie before their respective moves away from the Netherlands.

At United, David de Gea was the number one last season. However, there is uncertainty around the Spaniard’s future at the Old Trafford side. The shot-stopper’s current contract at the Red Devils will expire at the end of this month.

The 32-year-old has spent over a decade as the first choice at the Manchester-based club. Unfortunately, the veteran goalkeeper looked uncomfortable playing under Ten Hag.

Onana is familiar with the Dutch manager’s ideas. The Cameroonian’s inclusion has the capability of providing a different dimension to United’s play. Hopefully, we will be able to get a deal over the line for the 27-year-old quickly.
