Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag delivers verdict on Mason Mount
The signing of Mason Mount has not worked out like Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag hoped it would. The 25-year-old has missed 28 games due to injury this season making just 19 appearances for the Red Devils.
Mount was supposed to be a key midfielder for the team. However, his ongoing injury crisis has thwarted all of his attempts to settle in at Old Trafford. Until the 25-year-old can play regular football, there is no chance of him getting back to his level with Chelsea.
Owing to all these setbacks Manchester United could lose out on the £55m they paid for Mount this summer. However, Erik ten Hag doesn’t seem to think it was a bad move and has full faith in the English midfielder’s potential. Let’s take a look at what he had to say about the signing of Mount. “He’s a very good player and would absolutely fit here at Man United”.
“But I’m very happy with Mason Mount”
In an alternate world, the Red Devils could’ve had Declan Rice and he would’ve most definitely been a better addition than Mason Mount. The 25-year-old has been in fine form for Arsenal this season. He has made 49 appearances while recording seven goals and ten assists.
The Dutchman would’ve been happy to have a player as sturdy as Rice in a season where none of his stars have been able to cope with the physicality of the game. However, the team now has to make do with what they have.
Just like Erik ten Hag, the club must also bank on the possibility of Mason Mount realising his potential at Old Trafford.
