Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane ‘hopes’ Manchester United reignite interest
Harry Kane, who plays for Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur, ‘hopes’ Manchester United will reignite their interest in him, according to the Daily Mail (h/t Metro).
As things stand, the Red Devils have ended their pursuit of the England international. Daniel Levy does not look keen on doing business with other English top-flight sides.
The 29-year-old’s current contract has just one year left. However, Spurs are looking to get £100 million for the forward, a valuation the Old Trafford side have no intention of matching.
However, Kane is not giving up on making a switch to United in the ongoing transfer window. A price tag of £80 million could bring the Red Devils back into the race to acquire the English skipper’s services.
Apart from the Old Trafford side, Spanish giants Real Madrid also have the 29-year-old on their radar. Los Blancos recently lost the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema.
Kane has been a pivotal player for Tottenham over the years. Thus, it is understandable that Levy is looking for a premium price to part ways with the North London side’s talisman.
The English national has been consistent for the Lilywhites for several years now. Spurs have relied heavily on the striker’s prolificity. At the moment, the 29-year-old is second in the PL all-time goalscorers list.
As for United, we could do with someone like Kane in our ranks. In the second half of last season, Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst were the only two natural number nines at Erik ten Hag’s disposal. Unfortunately, the Holland international had to be called upon a lot due to the former AS Monaco star’s multiple fitness issues.
