Napoli have contract agreement with Manchester United target Victor Osimhen
Victor Osimhen, who plays for Napoli, has a two-year contract extension agreement with the Serie A champions amidst interest from Manchester United.
The Nigeria international is at the top of the list of alternative targets for the Old Trafford side in case a move for Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane fails. As things stand, it looks like the English skipper will stay at Spurs.
However, speaking via Football Italia (h/t Evening Standard), Aurelio De Laurentiis, the president of the Partenopei, revealed that the Italian outfit have already discussed putting pen to paper on fresh terms with the 24-year-old.
“We already talked to Osimhen before the Scudetto celebration, so we already have a basic agreement on a two-year extension of his contract.”
Napoli signed Osimhen in the summer of 2020 from LOSC Lille. His existing deal with the Serie A giants runs until June 2025 (transfermarkt). Over the years, the Nigerian has developed into a deadly forward.
In the 2022/23 campaign, the striker took his game to the next level and was pivotal in Luciano Spalletti’s team winning the Scudetto after over three decades.
As a result, apart from United, the 24-year-old has caught the eyes of other top teams. Premier League rivals Chelsea, as well as European giants Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, have been linked with him.
In the attack, United did not have a lot of options in the number nine position last season. Erik ten Hag had to make do with Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst in the second half of the campaign.
Unfortunately, the French national was injury prone for most of the Dutch manager’s first year in charge of the Old Trafford side. As for the Burnley loanee, he left a lot to be desired up front.

Thus, the addition of a new striker should seemingly be a priority for us this summer. However, it looks like Osimhen is going to be a difficult target for us to pursue. It is understandable that the Serie A champions want to secure the Nigerian’s future.
