Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund is a ‘realistic target’ for Manchester United this summer
Rasmus Hojlund, who currently plays for Serie A outfit Atalanta, is seen as a more ‘realistic target’ for Manchester United, according to the Daily Mail.
The Red Devils have ruled out moves for Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. As things stand, their respective price tags have put off the Old Trafford side’s pursuit.
As for the Denmark international in Bergamo, he is valued at between £40–60 million. Erik ten Hag is eager to bolster the forward line in the ongoing transfer window and the arrival of a number nine is one of the club’s main priorities.
However, while Hojlund could seemingly be available for a much attainable fee, he is nowhere near the player Kane and Osimhen are at the moment. Therefore, it should not be a surprise that Spurs and the Serie A champions are asking for a premium price.
The English skipper and the Nigeria international have proven themselves to be consistent goalscorers. Spurs’ talisman also has Premier League experience on his side.
As things stand, the 20-year-old has showcased a lot of talent and potential for a youngster at La Dea. However, the Danish national does not look like a finished article yet. In the 2022/23 campaign, the Atalanta star made 34 appearances in all competitions and found the back of the net 10 times.
United’s attack had to rely on Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst as the only two natural strikers in the last few months. However, Erik ten Hag had to call on the Holland international on a majority of occasions due to the former AS Monaco star’s fitness issues.
With the French national on the sidelines a lot, the Burnley loanee was given multiple opportunities in the starting lineup. However, despite his best efforts, the former Wolfsburg star left a lot to be desired up front.

Therefore, we evidently need to add a quality number nine as soon as possible to the squad. However, Hojlund has not done enough yet to convince of his prolificity. Thus, buying the Danish national to be our first choice next season does not look like a wise choice.
