Barcelona interested in Manchester United target and Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodriguez
Real Betis star and Manchester United target Guido Rodriguez is attracting interest from Barcelona ahead of the upcoming transfer window, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.it.
The La Liga giants, along with AC Milan and Napoli, have enquired about the Argentina international. As things stand, the defensive midfielder’s current contract with the Verdiblancos will expire at the end of next season.
Manuel Pelligrini’s team do not look to be in negotiations with the 29-year-old over a new deal. Thus, the Benito Villamarin Stadium side will need to sell the World Cup winner in the coming months to avoid losing him for free in a year’s time.
Betis are not expected to ask for more than €15 million to part ways with Rodriguez. The Spanish side signed the Argentine from CF America in January 2020.
Over the years, the 29-year-old has been a key player for the La Liga outfit. The Verdiblancos finished sixth in the league in the 2022/23 campaign as the midfielder made 44 appearances in all competitions.
Barcelona recently lost Sergio Busquets. The Spaniard had been a lynchpin in their engine room for several years. However, the Blaugrana have the likes of Frenkie de Jong, Frank Kessie, Gavi, and Pedri in their ranks as well.
As for United, we signed Casemiro last summer from Real Madrid. He has become a pivotal member of the Red Devils’ starting lineup.
Unfortunately, in the Brazilian’s absence, the likes of Fred and Scott McTominay have been unable to provide adequate cover and have put in inconsistent performances.

Therefore, we could evidently do with someone like Rodriguez in our ranks to add depth to our engine room. The Red Devils tried to buy the Argentine last year. Will we pursue his signature once more? Only time will tell.
