As per Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur are lining up a £50m move for Manchester United and England winger Jadon Sancho during the summer transfer window.

The report also reveals that United could do business if something in the region of £60m is offered. Borussia Dortmund offered a loan move to the England international, but the Red Devils are not interested in that sort of deal.

Sancho has struggled for consistency since arriving from Dortmund in the summer of 2021. If we look at his numbers, he has made 79 appearances for United, scoring 12 goals and assisting six (Transfermarkt). Those are not returns of a player who came to the club with such a massive reputation and expectation.

Tottenham are also in the race to sign Leicester City star James Maddison. New manager Ange Postecoglou is looking to revamp the squad ahead of the start of next season.

After two underwhelming seasons at Old Trafford, it might be good for Sancho to move to Spurs – a club with lesser expectations compared to United (with all due respect). Sometimes, a young player thrives when there isn’t pressure on him to perform every single day.

We have to note that Sancho is still only 23 years old. If he moves to Tottenham and has a couple of good seasons there, a move back to an elite club won’t be far away.

If United get a decent bid from the North London club, they should accept that and let the player go. The club can then use that money to make key signings in the summer. Erik ten Hag deserves to get properly backed in the market after doing an exceptional job in his first season as the manager.
