Erik ten Hag wants a top striker and a midfielder at Manchester United in the summer transfer window
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag wants the club to secure the transfer of a top-class striker and midfielder next summer, according to the Manchester Evening News.
If the Red Devils secure a place in next season’s Champions League, the gaffer is eyeing adding quality up top and in the middle of the park.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane has been identified as the ideal number nine by the Dutch manager. Also, the Old Trafford side have Napoli star Victor Osimhen on their radar to bolster the forward line.
In the engine room, Ten Hag has given United the go-ahead to make approaches for Borussia Dortmund youngster Jude Bellingham and Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong once again.
Unfortunately, as things stand, the England international is being tipped with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid. On the other hand, a move for the Holland international looks difficult.
Last summer, the Red Devils added Casemiro and Christian Eriksen to their engine room. While the Brazilian and Denmark international have been impressive, they are both 31. As a result, now, the former Ajax head coach is looking to add more youth to the middle of the park.
Fred, Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek are the other options at the gaffer’s disposal. However, they leave a lot to be desired at times. While Marcel Sabitzer has done well since joining on loan in January, the Austrian will return to Bayern at the end of the season.
A striker is a priority for Ten Hag as he feels the Manchester-based club’s front line has limitations. To that end, the Old Trafford side have even kept money aside to invest in a number nine in the upcoming transfer window.

Although, for a midfielder, outgoings will be required to secure the finances. Hopefully, the United hierarchy will fulfil the former Ajax head coach’s demands after an encouraging first season in the Red Devils’ dugout.
