Premier League rivals Arsenal are ‘prepared’ to spend £90 million on Manchester United target and West Ham United star Declan Rice, according to the Daily Mail (h/t The Sun).

The Gunners are set to open discussions with the Hammers regarding the acquisition of the England international in the upcoming transfer window. To that end, the North London side are willing to break the £72 million fee they paid for their record signing Nicolas Pepe.

Mikel Arteta has the Irons’ skipper on the top of his wishlist ahead of next summer. However, the Red Devils, as well as Manchester City, are also eyeing a move for the 24-year-old.

Rice has developed into one of the best defensive midfielders over the years at West Ham. The enforcer has thrived at the London Stadium side and was handed the captain’s armband after Mark Noble’s retirement.

While the Hammers have not been at their best in the current campaign, the English national has still shone. The 24-year-old showcased his quality against the Old Trafford side, as David Moyes’ team beat us 1-0 recently.

Arsenal had been on top of the league table for most of the campaign. However, their recent slip-ups have seen City overtake them. Still, the Gunners have had an excellent season. Granit Xhaka has been one of their key players, but the Swiss national could be sold by the North London side in the coming months.

As for United, we have Casemiro in our ranks. The Brazilian has cemented his place as the pivot in Erik ten Hag’s team. The former Real Madrid star has added much-needed quality to the Red Devils’ engine room.

However, the Old Trafford side seemingly lack cover for the 31-year-old. In his absence, we have not been at our best under the Dutch manager.

However, Rice is an established superstar. But at United, he will evidently have to compete with Casemiro for a place in the team. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether the 24-year-old will end up at Arsenal over the Manchester-based club.
