Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has identified Adrien Rabiot as a midfield target
As per French outlet L’Equipe (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has identified Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot as his target in the coming summer window.
The report reveals that Ten Hag has already made contact with Rabiot to talk about a potential move to Old Trafford. The 28-year-old’s contract in Turin expires this summer (Transfermarkt). So he can sign for the Red Devils for free at the end of this season.
United were linked with the French international last summer as well, but could not get the deal done as the player snubbed the move. With his contract expiring now, ten Hag sees him as a shrewd midfield addition on a free transfer.
Rabiot, a former Paris-Saint Germain player and youth product, has played 43 games for Juventus in all competitions this season, scoring 11 goals and assisting four from midfield. He is a box-to-box midfielder with an eye for goal.
The 28-year-old had an excellent World Cup as well, where his partnership with Aurelien Tchouameni and Antoine Griezmann took the French to the final before falling to Argentina in a penalty shootout.
If we analyse the United squad, they could do with a strong and technically solid midfield player. Rabiot provides those attributes along with his eye for a goal. He can be a more rounded version of Christian Eriksen as an attacking number eight. The Dane can then play as a number 10 or get more freedom playing alongside Rabiot and Casemiro.

For a free transfer, ten Hag and his staff won’t get a better player than Rabiot for their midfield. If the Frenchman is ready to come, the club should do everything to get this deal as soon as possible.
