Real Madrid ‘contact’ Manchester United target and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen
Spanish giants Real Madrid have made ‘contact’ with Napoli striker Victor Osimhen amidst interest from Manchester United, according to Italian journalist Giacomo Iacobellis via Fichajes.
Los Blancos have gotten in touch with the Nigeria international regarding the feasibility of a move in the upcoming transfer window. However, a number of other teams are also eyeing the forward.
Alongside the Red Devils, Premier League rivals Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea also have him on their radar. Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have also been linked with the 24-year-old.
Osimhen signed for the Partenopei in the summer of 2020 from LOSC Lille. The Nigerian has come into his own this season and has helped the Serie A giants secure the Scudetto after 33 long years.
The striker is tied down at Napoli until June 2025. However, a departure in the upcoming transfer window has not been ruled out. But interested parties will have to pay around €160 million to acquire the 24-year-old’s services.
Luciano Spalletti has gotten the best out of Osimhen in the current campaign. The forward has made 35 appearances in all competitions for the Partenopei, finding the back of the 28 times.
Since Erik ten Hag’s arrival at United, he has had to rely on Marcus Rashford up top. The 25-year-old is the Red Devils’ leading goalscorer this season.
Unfortunately, apart from the England international, none of our other attackers has contributed considerably under the Dutch manager. Also, the gaffer has had to deploy Rashford in the number nine position due to Anthony Martial’s fitness issues and Wout Weghorst’s apparent lack of quality.

Therefore, the Old Trafford side could evidently do with a prolific striker in their ranks. Osimhen has proven that he possesses a keen eye for goal at Napoli. But Real Madrid are a European giant. Karim Benzema is their talisman, but he is not getting any younger.
Thus, will the Spanish giants beat us to the punch to get a hold of the Nigerian’s signature? Only time will tell.
