Manchester United are ‘willing’ to part ways with French national Anthony Martial in the upcoming transfer window, according to TEAMtalk (h/t Manchester Evening News).

The Red Devils are looking to bolster their forward line next summer. To that end, Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is the Old Trafford side’s number one target.

However, in order to raise funds for new signings, the Manchester-based club are open to cashing in on the former AS Monaco star. The 27-year-old will enter the final year of his contract next season.

Martial signed for United in the summer of 2015. Big things were expected initially from the French national. However, he has not been able to live up to the hype.

In the previous campaign, the French national had lost his place in the team. Subsequently, the forward joined Sevilla on loan in January 2022. However, the 27-year-old struggled at the La Liga outfit as well.

Having returned to the Red Devils last summer, Martial put in encouraging displays under Erik ten Hag during pre-season. Unfortunately, injuries have hampered the striker’s game time in the current campaign.

The French national has been on the sidelines a lot since the Dutch manager’s arrival. As a result, the former Ajax head coach has been unable to rely on the 27-year-old. Subsequently, in January, we got Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley.

Marcus Rashford has been the only attacker who Ten Hag has been able to count on to find the back of the net. Therefore, it is not a surprise to see the Old Trafford side pursuing a prolific goalscorer like Kane.

Martial has not been able to make a case for himself in the team in the current campaign. Therefore, if we have to sacrifice the French national for the Spurs striker, then that is something we should do.
