Manchester United ‘best placed’ to sign Chelsea loanee Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid

Manchester United are ‘best placed’ to sign Chelsea loanee Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid in the upcoming transfer window, according to Cadena Cope (h/t Manchester Evening News).

The Portugal international joined the Blues in January on loan from Los Rojiblancos. After a few fruitful months in the Premier League, the forward is keen to stay in England.

As things stand, the 23-year-old wants to continue in the English top flight, but not necessarily at the Stamford Bridge side. The attacker is targeting a move to one of the current top-four sides.

Chelsea have struggled this season and are mid-table for now. It looks unlikely that the Blues will get into a European competition in the upcoming campaign.

However, Felix is looking to feature in club football’s biggest tournaments. In the previous transfer window, the Red Devils were one of the teams linked with the Portuguese.

At the moment, the Old Trafford side are fourth in the league table. We have everything in our hands. All the Manchester-based club need to do is win three of their four games to secure a place in the Champions League.

United could evidently do with a player like the 23-year-old. For now, Erik ten Hag has Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst as his only two natural options for the number nine position.

Our attack has seemingly lacked quality, with the gaffer having to rely on the Burnley loanee in the last few months to lead the line.

Felix has not looked out of place in the PL during his short time at Chelsea. He has been one of the Blues’ most electric attackers this season. But it remains to be seen whether the Old Trafford side will be able to acquire the 23-year-old’s services next summer.
