Erik ten Hag reveals Manchester United project attracting potential transfer targets

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has revealed that the transfer targets he has spoken to are attracted by the project at the Old Trafford side.

The Red Devils have done better than expected this season. Being appointed at the end of the previous campaign, the Dutch manager has managed to turn things around quickly at the Manchester-based club, ending the six-year trophy drought with the Carabao Cup win.

Speaking to the media via Mark Critchley of The Athletic (h/t Fabrizio Romano on Twitter), Ten Hag suggested that when he first came to United, players had second thoughts about making their way to the Old Trafford side. But that is not the case anymore.

“Last year there were a lot of reservations last year when I spoke with players to join us… now many players see the ambition in this project — they want to come. Many quality players really want to join Man United now.”

The former Ajax head coach got Lisandro Martinez and Antony to the Red Devils last summer. We also signed Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen.

However, despite our lack of success in recent years, an established winner like Casemiro opted to make a switch from Real Madrid to the Manchester-based club.

The Brazilian has been a revelation in United’s engine room, bringing much-needed quality to our midfield. He has been pivotal in the rebuild Ten Hag has undertaken at the Old Trafford side.

In the previous campaign, the Red Devils missed out on Champions League football. However, this time around, a place in the top four is within our grasp, which will evidently entice more talented stars to come to Manchester next summer.

United have also made it to the FA Cup final. We will face arch-rivals Manchester City at Wembley Stadium on 3 June. If the Red Devils manage to beat Pep Guardiola’s team, it will further consolidate the progress Ten Hag is making at the club.

The Old Trafford side seemingly need to bolster a number of departments in the upcoming transfer window. Hopefully, now, Ten Hag will be able to convince his primary targets to make their way to Manchester.
