Dean Henderson has ‘no intention’ of extending Manchester United stay next season
Manchester United shot-stopper Dean Henderson, who is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest, has ‘no intention’ of staying at the Old Trafford side, according to Football Insider (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The England international is at the Tricky Trees until the end of the season on a temporary move. However, it looks like the 26-year-old does not want to play for the Red Devils again.
As things stand, the West Bridgford-based club are fighting for survival in the Premier League. If they manage to stay up, Henderson will be offered a contract. However, if Steve Cooper’s team get relegated, they will be off the table to acquire the services of the goalkeeper.
However, the English national has interest from elsewhere as well. Apart from Forest, Tottenham Hotspur are also eyeing the shot-stopper and are huge admirers of him.
The 26-year-old has been brilliant for the Tricky Trees in the current campaign. Unfortunately, he has been out on the sidelines for some time now due to an injury.
In Henderson’s absence, the West Bridgford-based club have relied on Keylor Navas, who they signed on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in the previous transfer window.
The English national made his way through the youth ranks at Man United. Subsequently, after impressing on loan at Sheffield United, the shot-stopper returned to the Old Trafford side.
In the 2020/21 season, the 26-year-old shared minutes with David de Gea in between the sticks. However, the Spaniard regained his number one spot in the previous campaign, resulting in the on-loan Forest goalkeeper being relegated to the bench.

De Gea has been the first choice under Erik ten Hag as well. However, the gaffer does not have the luxury of options at his disposal, with Tom Heaton and Jack Butland playing as backups. Therefore, while Henderson wanting to leave the Red Devils is understandable, it would be wise for us to keep a hold of him.
