Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho ‘desperate’ for Borussia Dortmund return

Manchester United forward Jadon Sancho is ‘desperate’ for a return to former club Borussia Dortmund next summer, according to German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung (h/t Manchester Evening News).

In the upcoming transfer window, the England international is eyeing making his way back to the Bundesliga giants. The winger wants to end his stint with the Red Devils ‘sooner rather than later’.

To that end, the 23-year-old could potentially join BVB on loan. However, it remains to be seen whether the Old Trafford side will want to part ways with the forward after just two years.

Sancho signed for Dortmund in the summer of 2017 and slowly established himself in Germany. During his final two seasons at BVB, the English national was one of their best players.

Subsequently, United acquired the former Manchester City academy star’s services in 2021. Unfortunately, the winger has been unable to showcase the full extent of his talent over the last several months.

The 23-year-old has been unable to fulfil the expectations while playing for the Red Devils. He has struggled to make a considerable impact up until now at the Old Trafford side.

Erik ten Hag’s arrival has seen many players find their feet at United. Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are two examples of players who have revived their careers under the Dutch manager.

Sancho showed encouraging signs at the start of the 2022/23 campaign. But the forward’s form quickly petered off. But in recent weeks, the English national has put in some decent displays, with the gaffer trying him out in different positions.

United are one of the best clubs in the world. It does get much better for a player from here on out. If the English international wants to leave, then, by all means, the Red Devils should sanction his exit. No player is bigger than the club and the 23-year-old has been a disappointment so far at the Old Trafford side.
