Manchester United make overtures to land 24-year-old Serie A goal-getter

Manchester United enquire about transfer of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen

Manchester United have ‘enquired’ about the availability of Napoli star Victor Osimhen in the upcoming transfer window, according to RMC Sport (h/t Manchester Evening News).

Premier League rivals Chelsea are also interested in the Nigeria international. The Red Devils and the Blues have asked about the striker.

However, Paris Saint-Germain are also eyeing his services. The Parisians’ sporting director Luis Campos has already met with the 24-year-old representatives.

Osimhen is open to a move to the French capital. The Nigerian has faith in Campos, who signed the forward during his stint at LOSC Lille.

However, while the Partenopei are resigned to losing the 24-year-old next summer, they will ask for a considerable fee. The Serie A giants will hold out for a fee way beyond the £100 million mark for the striker.

Osimhen has been pivotal to Napoli’s success this season. The Italian outfit are at the top of the Serie A table with a comfortable margin. The Nigerian has scored 21 goals in 23 league appearances for Luciano Spalletti’s team in the current campaign.

At the moment, United’s front line lacks a quality number nine. Anthony Martial has been injury prone this season. The Red Devils signed Wout Weghorst on loan in January as a short-term solution.

The Holland international has played a lot in the Old Trafford side’s starting lineup. Although the striker has put in a lot of hard work, the 30-year-old has left a lot to be desired in front of goal.
