West Ham United midfielder and Manchester United target Declan Rice ‘going to Arsenal’ amidst
Declan Rice, who plays for Premier League rivals West Ham United, is ‘going to Arsenal’ amidst interest from Manchester United, according to Football Insider (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The England international prefers to stay in London. As a result, it is highly unlikely that the midfielder will move to Manchester. Therefore, the Old Trafford side are set to miss out on their long-term target.
Mikel Arteta’s team are flying high at the moment. The 24-year-old is expected to make a switch from the Hammers to the Gunners in the upcoming transfer window.
The North London side are at the top of the table in the English top flight for now. However, Manchester City are on their tails.
Arsenal’s midfield has been secured by Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka in the current campaign. The Emirates Stadium side also signed Jorginho from Chelsea in January to add quality in depth to their engine room.
Rice has developed into a quality number six since breaking into West Ham’s first team in the 2017/18 season. Since then, the defensive midfielder has gone from strength to strength.
The England international now boasts the captain’s armband for the Hammers. After impressing last season, the London Stadium side are in a relegation battle this time around. However, the 24-year-old has still shone, putting in impressive displays against Italy and Ukraine during the international break.
Man United bolstered the middle of the park in the summer of 2022 with the signings of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen. The Brazilian has cemented his place in the starting lineup and has become a pivotal player in Erik ten Hag’s plans at the Old Trafford side.

If Rice moves to Manchester in the coming months, he will seemingly have to compete with the former Real Madrid star for a place in the team. Therefore, a move to Arsenal looks like a better option for the 24-year-old.
