Manchester United duo Casemiro and Antony included in Brazil squad for upcoming friendly
Casemiro and Antony from Manchester United have been included in the Brazil national team’s 23-man squad for the upcoming friendly against Morocco, via CBF Futebol on Twitter (h/t Manchester Evening News).
On Saturday, 25 March, the South Americans will take on the Atlas Lions at Ibn Batouta Stadium. Ramon Menezes, the Canarinho’s caretaker manager, has selected the Red Devils midfielder and forward for the games.
However, Fred has not been included. The 29-year-old has missed out on a call cup. The former Shakhtar Donetsk star has been in fine form in recent weeks for the Old Trafford side.
Casemiro signed for United in the summer of 2022 from Real Madrid. The 31-year-old initially had to bide his time on the bench as Erik ten Hag preferred Scott McTominay in the XI.
However, ever since the Brazilian’s first start in the Premier League against Everton, he has put in several Man of the Match performances.
Casemiro has brought robustness to the middle of the park at the Old Trafford side. The Red Devils have gone on to lift the Carabao Cup and the 31-year-old has been pivotal to the success up until now under the Dutch manager.
As for Antony, he reunited with Ten Hag in Manchester after arriving from Ajax last summer. However, after a quick start to life, the 22-year-old has put in some underwhelming performances.
But the last few fixtures have seen the forward find his feet. The Brazilian scored Man United’s winning goal versus Barcelona in the second leg 2-1 victory as we qualified for the round of 16 of the Europa League.
