“That is for dreamers”- Erik ten Hag does not see quadruple as realistic for Manchester United

Erik ten Hag not dreaming of winning quadruple at Manchester United this season

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has discarded suggestions that the management and players at the club are dreaming about winning the quadruple this season.

The Red Devils have already lifted the Carabao Cup in the current campaign. We beat Newcastle United in the final at Wembley last month to end oy six-year trophy drought.

At the moment, the Old Trafford side are still alive in the FA Cup and the Europa League. We beat West Ham United in the fifth round of the domestic cup competition in our last match and got the better of Barcelona in the two-legged playoff tie to make it to the UEL’s round of 16.

The Manchester-based club are also in a decent position in the Premier League, sitting in third place. Currently, Arsenal are at the top of the table, 11 points ahead of us.

However, speaking to Sky Sports (h/t Manchester Evening News), Ten Hag is not focused on the quadruple. The Dutch manager is taking each game as it comes and has left the aspiration to the fans.

“That is for dreamers [talk of winning a quadruple], that is for fans. It is nice but it is not for us [to think about] and the players know that, they are so experienced they don’t get distracted from beautiful dreams. Maybe you can dream but we don’t.”

Ten Hag was appointed Man United manager at the end of last season. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick struggled to find success in the Old Trafford side’s dugout.

However, in a matter of months, the former Ajax head coach has turned things around in Manchester. The Red Devils have gone from strength to strength since the defeats in the opening two games of the campaign against Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford.

In the 1998/99 campaign, Sir Alex Ferguson managed to win the treble at Man United. The legendary team won the PL, Champions League and FA Cup.

While fans can and should dream, it seems a challenging task to pip Arsenal in the league table currently. However, the Red Devils should be confident about their chances in the domestic and European cup competitions.
