Napoli centre-back Kim Min-jae tipped to be “convenient” buy for Manchester United

Carlo Jacomuzzi, the former director of Napoli, has tipped the Serie A outfit’s defender Kim Min-jae to be a “convenient” signing for Manchester United.

The South Korea international is admired by the Red Devils. At the moment, the Old Trafford side are considering whether to make a move for the centre-back in the upcoming transfer window.

Speaking on Radio Punto Nuovo via Area Napoli (h/t Express), Jacomuzzi was asked whether a move to United was on the cards for Min-jae. The ex-Napoli director feels it is and that it would be suitable for the Red Devils.

“Kim and United? It would be very convenient. Manchester United must improve a lot and someone like the Korean would be a suitable profile.”

The 26-year-old, who is nicknamed ‘the monster’, made his way to the Italian giants in the summer of 2022. He signed for the Serie A outfit from Fenerbahce in Turkey.

Luciano Spalletti’s team are flying high in the current campaign. The Partenopei have a comfortable lead at the top of the league. They are on course to win the Sucetto after over three decades.

The South Korean’s addition acted as a replacement for Kalidou Koulibaly, who moved to Chelsea last summer. Subsequently, the centre-back has made 31 appearances in all competitions for the Naples-based club, scoring two goals and providing one assist.

For now, United have a stacked backline. Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane have been Erik ten Hag’s preferred duo in the defence this season.

As a result, the likes of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof have found game time hard to come by. On some occasions, even Luke Shaw has been deployed centrally.

Therefore, it would not come as a surprise if our captain and the Sweden international look for pastures new in the coming months. In that case, someone with the quality of Min-jae has the ability to add strength in depth to the squad.
