Manchester United ‘battling’ Arsenal for Molde midfielder Sivert Mannsverk next January
Manchester United are ‘battling’ Arsenal for the signature of a midfielder from Norwegian club Molde, Sivert Mannsverk, according to Jeunes Footeux via HITC (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils, along with the Gunners, are interested in signing the 20-year-old ahead of the upcoming transfer window. The Scandinavian outfit are looking for £9 million to part ways with him.
Erik ten Hag is still looking to bolster his squad in Manchester after the business in the summer of 2022. The Dutch manager’s former club Ajax are also eyeing Mannsverk’s signature.
The Norwegian signed for Molde in 2021 from Sogndal. Since then, he has developed into a fine midfielder. The midfielder was also called up to his national side recently.
While the youngster has not made his international debut yet, it seems to be only a matter of time. In the current campaign, the 20-year-old has made 12 appearances in the Conference League and the UECL qualifiers, scoring three goals.
Molde are responsible for producing one of the finest youngsters in Erling Haaland, who now plays for Manchester City. The Aker Stadium side sold the striker to RB Salzburg and he has gone on to take the footballing world by storm.
United’s current midfield consists of Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes. The trio have cemented their place in the Red Devils’ engine room.
However, on the bench, the likes of Fred and Scott McTominay have flattered to deceive. Donny van de Beek has also been underwhelming in Manchester since his move from Ajax.
