Manchester United told price tag for Brighton & Hove Albion’s Moises Caicedo
Manchester United fans will remember being linked with Moises Caicedo before he sealed a transfer to Brighton & Hove Albion in the January transfer window last year.
It has proven to be a costly mistake because Caicedo has proven his worth amongst the big boys in the Premier League since then. He has emerged as one of the most complete midfielders in his age group.
Caicedo is an asset in defence and equally dependable on the ball when his team are in possession. He is an ideal number eight and could be a world-class midfielder in the coming years.
He was also a starring presence for Ecuador in the 2022 FIFA World Cup group stages, even though his team did not make it to the last 16. But that has apparently been enough to garner attention from teams for the 21-year-old.
Manchester United are thought to be one of the teams linked with him. But according to Fichajes (h/t Manchester Evening News), his services will now come at a hefty price tag of 70million Euros.
The Red Devils have Fred and Scott McTominay in central midfield who have gotten the job done but have a lot to be desired at times. They are arguably not at the level to be a regular selection in Manchester United’s starting XI.
We can surely upgrade on them. Casemiro and Christian Eriksen, meanwhile, have been invaluable additions to the team this summer under manager Erik ten Hag which has, to many fans’ relief, reduced our dependance on the ‘McFred’ combination in midfield.
