Real Madrid interested in signing Portugal and Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes
Spanish giants Real Madrid are interested in signing Portugal star Bruno Fernandes from Manchester United, according to Record via Sport Witness (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The 28-year-old is currently satisfied at the Old Trafford side. However, the midfielder would be open to a switch to the La Liga outfit from the Red Devils.
His current contract at the Manchester-based club expires in the summer of 2026. The playmaker has been a vital member of the club’s starting lineup over the years. Thus, Los Blancos would evidently have to pay over the top to convince us to sell.
Fernandes joined United in the winter window of 2020 from Sporting CP. He had an immediate impact at the Old Trafford side, being involved in a considerable amount of goals.
The Portuguese had one of his best seasons in the 2020/21 campaign. He made 58 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions, finishing the back of the net 28 times and providing 17 assists.
The 28-year-old primarily plays in the number 10 position. Carlo Ancelotti’s options in the middle of the park include Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Aurelien Tchouameni, Federico Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga. Thus, the La Liga outfit are stacked at the moment.
Fernandes is with the Portugal national side in Qatar right now. The playmaker has been thriving for Fernando Santos’ team at the World
Cup. He registered two assists in Os Navegadores opening group-stage fixture against Ghana and scored two goals in the second game against Uruguay.Since the previous campaign, the 28-year-old has been somewhat underwhelming, considering the expectations he set during his initial months in Manchester. However, the midfielder is still one of our best players.
