Brazil national tram’s doctor confirms hip injury for Manchester United forward Antony
Rodrigo Lasmar, the doctor of the Brazil national team, has revealed that Manchester United forward Antony has been on the sidelines for the last few weeks due to a hip injury.
The 22-year-old has not featured for the Red Devils since the 3-0 victory against Sheriff Tiraspol in the Europa League at Old Trafford. Subsequently, the Brazilian has missed the matches against West Ham United, Real Sociedad and Aston Villa.
However, Antony did make it to the 26-man squad for his national side. And speaking via Manchester Evening News about the 22-year-old, Lasmar disclosed that the forward is still recovering. The winger has not yet returned to group training with the United squad.
“Antony had a small problem in the flexor muscles of the right hip, he is in the recovery process. We’re in contact with the player, with the medical department. He’s in a recovery phase. We have time for him to recover in time to be with us.
“A lot depends on this week. I spoke to him in the morning, he’s feeling better, it’s early. He hasn’t started training with the group yet, he’s in physical therapy.”
Antony signed for the Old Trafford side in the summer of 2022 from Ajax. The Brazilian reunited with Erik ten Hag in Manchester. And he has been a key player for the Dutch manager.
The 22-year-old was immediately handed his full debut by Ten Hag after his arrival against table-toppers Arsenal in the Premier League. And the winger opened the scoring against the Gunners.
We ended up defeating the
North Londoners 3-1 at Old Trafford. United are the only side in the English top flight in the current campaign to have beaten Mikel Arteta’s team.Antony went on to score consecutive goals in his first three games for the Red Devils in the PL. The forward also featured extensively in the Europa League as well for the Dutch manager.
The Brazilian has made the right wing his own at United. However, it remains to be seen whether Ten Hag risks the 22-year-old in United’s final two fixtures before the World Cup break.
