Teddy Sheringham: Manchester United should sign Harry Kane over PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe
Former Manchester United forward Teddy Sheringham feels the Red Devils should sign Harry Kane over Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe.
The Frenchman has been linked with a move away from the Ligue 1 champions. Although, the 2018 World Cup winner signed a contract extension recently to stay at PSG.
However, Sheringham would prefer the Red Devils to pursue the captain of the Three Lions over Mbappe. Speaking to Genting Casino (h/t Express), the 56-year-old, who also played for Spurs, feels Kane is the sort of player the Old Trafford side need.
“You need players with professionalism, desire and focus and they should look no further than Harry Kane.
“I don’t think Mbappe is what United need. They already have ‘flitty’ players – if I can call them that – and need focused and determined players like Kane and Rice.”
The PSG superstar has risen over the years to become one of the best players in the world. Mbappe has the potential to have his name amongst the elites by the time he hangs up his boots.
However, the Tottenham forward is brilliant as well. Since breaking out in the 2014/15 season, the 29-year-old has taken the English top flight by storm. He has three Premier League Golden Boots to his name.
At United, the number nine position is currently a cause for concern for fans. Anthony Martial has been unavailable for most of the campaign. Injuries have blighted the French star’s campaign under Erik ten Hag.
Also, Cristiano Ronaldo is not having the best of seasons under the Dutch manager. The Portuguese finished as our top goalscorer in the previous campaign. Unfortunately, he has struggled since Ten Hag’s arrival.
Marcus Rashford has led the line for United this term. The England international has been decent. However, his finishing has left a lot to be desired.

From Mbappe and Kane, most fans feel the Spurs forward is a more attainable target for the Old Trafford side. However, any club would be lucky to have the 2018 World Cup winner at their disposal.
