Transfer News: Real Madrid are interested in Diogo Dalot
Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot is said to be of interest to Real Madrid. The 23-year-old has been watched regularly by the Spanish giants (h/t Metro).
Los Blancos were interested in Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo, but City have no interest in letting him leave. As such, they have turned their attention across town to us.
The feedback- both professionally and personally- has been positive for the Spanish giants about Dalot. And now it seems they make a move for the defender next summer.
Dalot moved to United in 2018 from FC Porto. While he remained a fringe player, the 23-year-old has over the past season established himself as a regular for the club.
Under Erik ten Hag this season, the Portuguese has been phenomenal. He has started all 15 games this season in all competitions, recording two assists in the process.
His current contract is set to expire next summer, though the club has the option of extending it by another year. Should he depart, it is expected that the 23-year-old will fetch around at least £35 million.
It will be wise for United to keep the player for as long as possible. He has been one of our best and most consistent performers so far this season and replacing him could become a task for the Reds.
It remains to be seen if he is the option that Ten Hag sticks with once this season ends. It’s clear that for now, he is above Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the pecking order.

Dalot is more than likely to go to the World Cup with Portugal next month. Good displays there could potentially increase the number of suitors. It remains to be seen if the Reds can keep hold of their young full-back.
