Speaking on Sky Sports during the Premier League clash with Chelsea as quoted by Manchester Evening News, Manchester United legend Roy Keane has sided with Cristiano Ronaldo following the punishment given to him.

The 37-year-old superstar was kept out of the squad for the Chelsea game following his refusal to come on as a substitute in the second half of the game against Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur midweek.

Everyone has had a say on the incident with few people believing that Erik ten Hag’s decision was the correct one whilst some others think that treating a player as decorated as Ronaldo this way is not the right thing.

Ultimately, it is believed that Ronaldo will be back in the squad real soon and Ten Hag will be counting on him. The pair will have to put the issue behind them and get together with Man United in mind.

Keane, a legend of the club in his own right, believes that Ronaldo’s anger is justified and that Ronaldo has won the right to be ‘justified‘ in his anger.

“He certainly feels what’s gone on, he’s been unfairly treated. If you feel that as a senior pro there’s a justified anger, you’re going to react that way but he’s got flaws like we all have.”

Ronaldo has had a season to forget until now. Never before has the 37-year-old struggled so much at a club and it just seems like the former Real Madrid superstar is unable to catch a break at all until now this campaign.

With a World Cup less than a month away, a tournament which could be Ronaldo’s last chance in winning a national trophy, the Man United superstar is not going into the showpiece event in the best of form.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Ronaldo and Man United. If the pair can put this incident behind them and put the club’s interests at the forefront, then it would augur well for the Red Devils for this season and beyond.
