Manchester United defender Raphael Varane left the pitch in tears at Stamford Bridge after picking up an injury against Chelsea, via Manchester Evening News. The Red Devils eventually managed a draw against the Blues on 22 October (Saturday) in the Premier League.

The fixture provided thrilling final minutes for both sets of fans as the match ended 1-1. Jorginho scored a penalty in the 87th minute before Casemiro scored the equaliser just before the final whistle.

However, the occasion was marred a bit for supporters of the Red Devils, with Varane having to be forced off. At around the hour mark, the French defender fell as he looked to have jerked his knee in an attempt to chase Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The 29-year-old was seen being consoled by his teammates as Victor Lindelof got on the pitch to replace the 2018 World Cup winner. It remains to be seen how serious the injury is. Fortunately, the centre-back walked off the pitch without needing a stretcher.

Nonetheless, with the Qatar World Cup less than a month away, Didier Deschamps will evidently be worried. Varane is a key member of Les Bleus’ backline.

On the other hand, Erik ten Hag has also seen his options at centre-back dwindle. Currently, Harry Maguire and Axel Tuanzebe are also on the sidelines.

Varane has been one of our best players in the current campaign, forming a formidable partnership with Lisandro Martinez. The two have been the preferred choice this season for the Dutch manager.

Since his arrival at Old Trafford last year, the French centre-back has had a disappointing time with injuries. The defender experienced a few fitness setbacks in the previous campaign.
