Three Premier League clubs including Manchester United tipped to be ‘right project’ for Cody Gakpo
Manchester United are amongst the three Premier League clubs tipped to be the “right project” for PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo. Gianluca Di Marzio believes a move to the Red Devils would suit the 23-year-old.
The Italian journalist includes Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, the two North London rivals, which would be the perfect fit for Gakpo. The Holland international has been in fine form for the Eredivisie outfit this season.
Speaking to Wettfreunde (h/t football.london), Di Marzio feels Gakpo has the traits for the Premier League, having played for PSV.
“When you play in the Eredivisie with PSV and Ajax, you obviously learn intensity and quality, so the Premier League is the right move for players like him.
“I think Manchester United or Arsenal, or Tottenham, for that matter, are the right projects for a quality and intense player like him.”
In the 2022/23 campaign, the Holland international has been impressive for the Boeren. The 23-year-old has featured 18 times for the Dutch side in all competitions, scoring 13 goals and providing 11 assists.
United signed Antony from Ajax in the recent transfer window to bolster the attacking options at Erik ten Hag’s disposal. And the Brazilian has had mixed performances. While he scored in his first three league games for the Red Devils, fans feel the 22-year-old is a bit one-dimensional.
Another forward at the gaffer’s disposal is Cristiano Ronaldo. However, the 37-year-old has not had the best of campaigns so far. The Portugal international has not been able to emulate last season’s performances.
However, Ten Hag has been able to seemingly rejuvenate the likes of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial. The trio had disappointing campaigns in the last term.
Rashford has been one of our best players in the current campaign. Last season, the 23-year-old looked like a shadow of his former self. But the new gaffer has evidently helped him find his feet once again.

Unfortunately, goalscoring has evidently been an issue under Ten Hag, and fans feel United have not been clinical enough. Wil Gakpo be the one pursued to add depth to the Red Devils’ attacking line? It remains to be seen.
