Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio considered an option for £25 million transfer by Manchester United
According to Relevo (h/t Express), Manchester United are interested in Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio. The Red Devils are determined to make an offer in excess of £25 million for the Spaniard.
The 26-year-old has become a target for Erik ten Hag, who is ‘determined’ to make a bid for Asensio before the end of the transfer window. The Spaniard is seen as a cheaper option than the other players United have been going after.
However, Los Blancos could make it challenging for the Red Devils to take Asensio away from Santiago Bernabéu this summer. Carlo Ancelloti is keen on the Spaniard remaining at the club for the 2022/23 campaign.
United have already been successful in enticing Casemiro from the La Liga giants. Asensio has a year left on his contract at Madrid (transfermarkt). Other teams in Italy and England are interested in the 26-year-old’s signature.
United need depth up front
The Manchester-based club have started the new season on a mixed note. After losing the first two games of the season, United put in an impressive performance against Liverpool, winning 2-1.
Ten Hag’s competitive debut in the Premier League didn’t get off to the start fans were expecting. Brighton & Hove Albion beat us 2-1. The team failed to make an impact in the final third. Alexis Mac Allister’s own goal was the only thing the Red Devils took away from the game.
United then came up against Brentford and lost 4-0. Once again, the forward line had a hard time creating chances. The few opportunities we had were wasted.
The Manchester-based club had similar issues in the attack last season. Only Cristiano Ronaldo was able to contribute enough goals and the Portugal international’s future is uncertain at the club.
