Brighton & Hove Albion manager Graham Potter has disregarded Moises Caicedo links to Manchester United
Graham Potter isn’t worried about the future of Moises Caicedo at Brighton & Hove Albion amidst links to Manchester United. The Seagulls boss has disregarded the rumours regarding the young midfielder.
The Red Devils have been linked with the 20-year-old this summer. United need a central midfielder and have their eyes on Caicedo. However, Potter isn’t listening to the noise.
Speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News, The Brighton manager is calm about the speculations surrounding his Ecuadorian star. Potter feels such stories are bound to pop up during the transfer window.
“In regards to speculation, it is what it is. When the transfer window is open you always get that stuff but he is really enjoying his football here and we are really enjoying having him.”
United’s bad start to the season
United faced the Seagulls in the first competitive game of Erik ten Hag’s reign. Caicedo started the game and put in a brilliant shift. Brighton hurried our midfield and defence. The Red Devils ended up losing the game 2-1.
Fred and Scott McTominay both started the game in the middle of the park for United. The Brazilian played as the deep-lying midfielder in the game. The Scotland international, on the other hand, was given the licence to make forward runs. The duo made a few errors and didn’t have the best of games.
The Manchester-based club then visited the Gtech Community Stadium to face Brentford. Ten Hag opted to start with Christian Eriksen in the number six position. Fred was playing the box-to-box role.
Once again, United failed to cope with the pressure as the Bees man marked our players. We struggled to play out from the back. The midfield wasn’t able to keep a hold of possession. The Red Devils lost 4-0.
The two games have reflected the need for United to invest in the engine room. A number eight needs to be a priority. Paul Pogba was the flair player in the midfield, but he left this summer.
