Atletico Madrid send ‘priceless’ Joao Felix message as hefty Manchester United bid rejected

Atletico Madrid have sent a message about Joao Felix being “priceless” on their official Twitter handle (h/t Liverpool Echo). Recently, the Rojiblancos rejected a hefty bid Manchester United had put in for the Portuguese.

Felix signed for Atletico back in 2019 from SL Benfica. In his breakthrough campaign with the Eagles, the 22-year-old scored 15 goals and gave nine assists in 26 league appearances.

However, since moving to Madrid, the Portugal international hasn’t had the best of times. Felix hasn’t been able to cement his place in Diego Simeone’s XI.

The Portuguese is in his fourth season with Atletico. Felix has featured in 112 matches for Los Colchoneros in all competitions until now. The forward has scored 29 goals and provided 18 assists. He hasn’t had the impact some fans had envisioned.

However, The 22-year-old started the 2022/23 La Liga campaign with an impressive performance against Getafe. The former Benfica star provided three assists in the first fixture.

Felix is a full international as well. The Portuguese has 22 appearances for his national side. The 22-year-old has played alongside Cristiano Ronaldo on the biggest stages.

United haven’t signed a forward this transfer window. After last season’s performances, it was evident to fans that the side needed a major overhaul. But that hasn’t been the case this summer.

Erik ten Hag seemed to have brought the best out of the likes of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial. However, the previous campaign’s frailties have reappeared in the first two losses of the Dutch manager’s era at Old Trafford.

Strength in depth in the attacking line is an issue for United at the moment. Felix is a talented player. While the 22-year-old hasn’t fulfilled his potential yet, there’s still a long way to go.
