Transfer News: PSV will listen to offers for Cody Gakpo only after CL fate is known
According to @MullockSMirror (via UtdPlug) [h/t Manchester Evening News], PSV Eindhoven will only be willing to listen to offers for Manchester United target Cody Gakpo only after their Champions League fate is known.
PSV are yet to qualify for the group stage of the competition and drew 1-1 at Stade Louis II against AS Monaco last week. The second leg of their third qualifying round tie against the Ligue 1 outfit takes place this Tuesday at Philips Stadion.
A talented winger, Gakpo is very highly rated and huge things are expected of him. The Dutchman has been the subject of interest from the top clubs in Europe due to his exceptional performances at such a young age.
A product of PSV’s youth academy, Gakpo is one of the rare young prospects in the world who seems very all-rounded at such a young age. The starlet is already capable of scoring goals and creating chances for his teammates with equal ease.
The player was linked with a move to Chelsea and Arsenal some time ago but the interest seemed to have cooled off. Now it seems like Manchester United have taken a liking to the talented starlet and want to sign him.
There is no doubt that Gakpo is a huge talent. He is a player for the future but he could also do a job for Man United in the present. He will be an addition to an already impressive crop of wingers that we have.
In Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford, we have two world-class wingers who have a great future in the game. Behind the duo, we have a number of talented young wingers like Anthony Elanga, Facundo Pellistri, Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo.
Adding Cody Gakpo to the list would make Man United have one of the most exciting young forward lines in the Premier League. The Dutchman can be a part of the first team directly and contribute when given a chance.
Erik ten Hag would have had a close look at what Gakpo is capable of during his time at Amsterdam when his team Ajax would have faced PSV and if he thinks the Dutchman is a good fit, there is no reason to not trust him.

Gakpo is a solid talent, which is why it makes sense for PSV to keep him for the UCL qualifier against AS Monaco. If they qualify, however, it remains to be seen if they will be open to parting ways with arguably their best attacker.
