Erik ten Hag gives consent for Manchester United to make move for Bayer Leverkusen forward Moussa Diaby

Erik ten Hag has given his approval as Manchester United look at a possible move for Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby, according to Fichajes (h/t Mirror).

The Red Devils are worried about missing out on Antony and are looking for possible alternatives to reinforce the squad. Anthony Martial’s future is also up in the air, prompting Ten Hag to move for other options.

United’s frontline hasn’t seen any additions this summer. After last season’s underwhelming output, it is necessary for the club to strengthen the attack.

Cristiano Ronaldo was the team’s highest goalscorer in the previous campaign. But there is talk of the Portuguese leaving Manchester before the end of the transfer window.

Jadon Sancho was signed from Borussia Dortmund after the 22-year-old posted impressive numbers in the Bundesliga. The side lacked creativity down the wings two seasons ago. The England international made a name for himself in Germany for his dribbling skills and creativity in the final third.

But Sancho failed to live up to expectations. It took time for the former Dortmund winger to establish himself in the XI. But even after that, the output wasn’t as impressive as fans had hoped.

Marcus Rashford had a disappointing campaign last time out. After the Euro 2020 heartbreak, it seemed the 24-year-old lost his confidence. Fans felt the academy star lacked the drive that he’s shown in previous seasons.

Diaby is a decent option for United to go after. The 23-year-old France international has speed on his side. In 124 appearances for Leverkusen, the winger has scored 35 goals and provided 37 assists.

If we fail to sign any of the first names Ten Hag has on his list, moving for a Diaby is a wise option.
